THE SILVER LINING:  EPISODE 2

TWO HOUSEHOLDS

WALKTHROUGH

​

This walkthrough was written by Frodo

for The Daventry Chronicles

 

 

 

INTRO

​

Watch the ‘Previously On’, and the Intro cutscenes.  

​

As the Episode starts properly, you get a quick explanation of the

scroll’s abilities.  EXIT close-up of the scroll.  The map will appear - sail

to Isle Of The Crown.

ISLE OF THE CROWN

​

After you have reached Isle Of The Crown, talk to Hassan, and ask

about all topics.  When he asks if you’re ‘Ready To Sail’, tell him NO.  

You haven’t explored this island yet.  There’s a boy sitting on the edge

of the docks, trying to fish.  Talk to him, and he‘ll tell you he‘s had no

luck fishing, because the fish are all hiding since the storm last night.  

​

Follow the path up to the village.  Enter Ali’s Book Shop.  Talk to Ali,

and ask about all topics.  Show Ali your SCROLL WITH INGREDIENTS.  

He confirms it’s Druid magic, and the only thing he can help you with is

the Magical Bag, but he’ll need a map to show you where to travel.  

Talk to Jollo, and ask about all topics.  Jollo gives you a FAKE ARM - he’s

a funny guy!  Look around the shop.  There’s a large bookcase along the

wall.  Look at the left shelf of the bookcase, the books here are on

marine life.  Take the book titled ’Folklore Of The Sea’, and read

through it, then return if to the shelf.  The next section of the book-

shelf has books on botany.  Take the book titled ’The Power Of

Nightshade’, and read through it, then return it to the shelf.  The next

section (to the right of the fireplace) is books on Fairytales.  Take the

book titled ‘Classic Fairy Tales’, and read through it, then return it to

the shelf.  The last section is books on Religion and Philosophy.  Take

the book titled ‘Amazing Myths’, and read through it, then return it to

the shelf.  You’ve read through 4 books altogether.  Leave the shop.  

​

Head left (not through the archway), into the market square.  Have a

look in the Magic Carpet shop if you like, but your goal is The Four

Winds area next to the blacksmith’s stall.  Look at the notice board on

The Four Winds wall, and read through the newspaper articles.  When

you’re ready, exit the close-up.  Now SAVE YOUR GAME HERE.  Look at

counter for The Four Winds, and see the Black Widow spider

(shudders!).  Now talk to the spider and ask about all topics.  She tells

you that the mysterious stranger is looking for something called

Pandora’s Box.  Sounds dangerous.  When conversation is over, use

your FAKE ARM with the Black Widow - she bites the fake arm, leaving

poison on the FAKE ARM.  You now have A LETHAL LIQUID - one of the

spell ingredients.  Once it is crossed off your scroll, exit the close-up.  

​

Walk left a little bit, and look at the blue tent (map seller) and talk to

the merchant.  Give him a GOLD COIN from your coin pouch, and buy

MAP TO LAND OF THE GREEN ISLES.  Walk left a bit more, and talk to

the Candy Stall merchant.  Give him a GOLD COIN from your coin pouch,

and buy all the sweets from the stall.  Now head right, and make your

way back to the village.  

​

Enter Ali’s Book Shop again.  Show MAP to Ali, and he will circle where

you can find the Sea Nymphs.  Leave the shop.  

​

Walk right past the Pawn Shop (it’s closed right now, so you can’t get

in), and then follow path to the palace.  

​

Enter castle, walk forward, and be greeted by Shamir the genie.  Watch

the cutscene, and read both letters about The Black Cloak Society.  Exit

close-up of the letters, and ask Shamir about all topics.  

​

When conversation is over, walk down the steps into the garden.  Walk

forward, and see Edgar sleeping on a bench.  Talk to him, and ask

about all topics.  

​

When you’ve finished talking to Edgar, enter the castle.  Get WATER

BOTTLE from floor in the corridor.  Look at WATER BOTTLE in the

inventory, to see that it is empty.  For a bit of fun, pull on the suit of

armour.  Now walk through doorway on the left, so you are in the Main

Hall.  Make your way up the left staircase.  Go to the little alcove, and

get CASSIMA’S NECKLACE that she dropped on the floor.  There’s

nothing more you can do here, so go back downstairs, and leave the

castle by the front door.  

​

Walk forward, and follow path to the village.  Head up to the docks,

where you started this adventure.  Walk down to where the boy is still

trying to fish.  Give him your CANDIES in return for his FISHING POLE.

 You made that little boy very happy, Graham.  Now talk to Hassan, and

tell him YES, you are ready to sail.  Sail to Isle Of The Sea Nymphs, that

Ali marked on your map (red circle).

ISLE OF THE SEA NYMPHS

​

In your inventory, combine CASSIMA’S NECKLACE with the FISHING

POLE, and use the FISHING POLE & NECKLACE combination on the

sea.  Some Sea Nymphs will greet you.  Watch the cutscene as they

give you the MAGICAL BAG you’ve been searching for, as well as a

CAPE OF INVISIBILITY.  Now, since they’ve helped you, they want a gift

in return, so give them a GOLD COIN.  The second ingredient will be

crossed off your list - exit the close-up.  

​

Talk to Hassan, and tell him YES, you are ready to sail.  Sail to Isle

Of The Sacred Mountain.

ISLE OF THE SACRED MOUNTAIN

​

When you reach the island, swim to shore.  Get NIGHTSHADE

FLOWER at left of the stairs, and then climb up the stairs.  Here, you

meet a very strange character - Hole In The Wall (isn‘t he adorable!).  

He is lost, and wants to go home, so you agree to help him.  You can’t

do anything else here, so return to the boat.  Talk to Hassan, and tell

him YES you are ready to sail.  Sail to Isle Of Wonder.

ISLE OF WONDER

​

Look at the oyster beds, aren’t they cute!  Walk left a little bit, and fill

your WATER BOTTLE with sea water.  Now head up to the garden, and

have a look at all the peculiar plants.  Look at vines on the left wall,

and spray your WATER BOTTLE at the vines.  The vines don’t like

seawater, and it makes them sneeze and wither.  Notice there is a KEY

in the wall behind the vines, but don’t touch it yet.  Try to take Mag-

Gnat from the table on the right - in retaliation, he tries to take your

GOLD COINS.  Give him your GOLD COINS, and he now becomes your

cursor, so use him on KEY in the left wall.  The metal KEY is attracted

to the Mag-Gnat, but then falls to the ground as Mag-Gnat runs off.  

So pick up KEY from the grass.  

​

Now use KEY in padlock on the gate, and open gate to enter Chess-

board Land.  Unfortunately, the Red & White Knights won’t let you

stay, and make you leave.  Hmmm, I wonder if there’s a way to sneak

past the Knights unseen. 

​

Use CAPE OF INVISIBILITY on yourself, to enter Chessboard Land

again.  This time, the knights don’t see you, so you walk up to the next

screen.

 

Look at guillotine, and look at sign.  Follow path up to a walled area,

and watch a cutscene with the Ranger.  Wow, that was intense!  Have a

look around if you want.  Look at cupboard on the left, and notice the

cup walking back & forth inside the cupboard.  This is the ANIMATED

VESSEL.  Try to open cupboard door, but it’s locked and you don’t have

the key.  Use HOLE IN THE WALL on cupboard, and reach through to

get AN ANIMATED VESSEL.  

​

You have all 3 ingredients now, and all 3 are crossed off the scroll.  But

an image of Valanice, your wife, appears on the scroll instead.  What

can this mean?  You immediately feel a sense of doom.  Exit the close-

up.  

​

Leave this walled area, and make your way back to the beach.  Talk to

Hassan, and tell him YES you are ready to travel.  Travel to Isle Of The

Crown.

ISLE OF THE CROWN

​

When you arrive at Isle Of The Crown, follow path up, and make your

way to the castle.  Watch the emotional cutscenes to end the episode. 

​

Poor Graham.  Things are not looking good!
